We’re excited to welcome Matt Willauer as the new CEO of Hays Farm Homes. With over 30 years of experience in residential construction, Matt brings a wealth of knowledge, a hands-on leadership approach, and a strong commitment to enhancing the quality of life in South Huntsville. Here’s a look into his journey, vision, and plans for the future at Hays Farm.
A Career Built on Experience and Relationships
Matt’s journey in residential construction has taken him through a variety of roles, each contributing to his depth of knowledge and expertise. His career highlights include working with respected builders and managing land acquisition, commercial construction, and development for Enfinger Development here in Huntsville. But he credits his success to the relationships he’s formed along the way. “I wouldn’t be where I am today if not for the strong relationships that have surrounded me in my 9 years in Huntsville,” Matt shares.
Having been closely involved with Hays Farm through his CAD work (Computerized realistic renderings of homes), Matt was already familiar with its unique qualities and vision before stepping into this role. The transition felt natural. “Hays Farm is Jeff and Olly’s family land, a legacy they’re building with incredible care,” he added. “I’m honored to help bring this quality of life to South Huntsville.”
Vision for the Future of Hays Farm
As CEO, Matt’s vision is simple yet impactful: to keep building homes that people are proud to live in, homes that resonate with Hays Farm’s natural beauty and well-crafted design. “My goal is to build beautiful, functional homes and create a community where quality of life shines,” he says.
Matt is committed to listening to homeowner feedback and making continual improvements, with a personal focus on details that enhance everyday living. “The best way to grow is by listening,” he emphasizes. “Incorporating new design ideas and paying attention to what matters to residents is crucial.”
A Leader Shaped by Humility and Practicality
Matt admits he doesn’t follow conventional leadership paths or read every leadership book out there. Instead, he believes in building strong systems & relationships, working hard, and learning continuously. “I just want to improve and enjoy the work,” he says.
The Heart of Hays Farm: Community and Legacy
For Matt, building homes isn’t just about construction—it’s about creating “technical artwork” where families can grow and build memories. His passion lies in crafting spaces that are both beautiful and deeply functional, places that enrich the lives of those who call them home.
Looking ahead, Matt envisions Hays Farm as more than a neighborhood: “This park, this community—it’s going to bring so much life to South Huntsville. We’re excited to see families enjoy a connected, active lifestyle, with everything they need close by.”
Outside of Work
When Matt isn’t focused on Hays Farm, you can find him on Huntsville’s trails or spending time with his wife and three daughters, ages 6, 8, and 11. Nine years ago, Matt and his family loved Huntsville so much that they decided to make it their home—even before securing jobs. “We chose this place to raise our family,” he shares. “We loved it so much that we moved here without having jobs lined up. We just knew this was where we wanted to be.”
A Lasting Legacy
What legacy does Matt hope to leave at Hays Farm? One of quality, integrity, and community. He summed it up this way: “I hope that Hays Farm becomes known for excellent homes that reflect a high quality of life. I want people to look back and think, ‘Those were great houses in a great community.’”
Please join us in welcoming Matt Willauer to the Hays Farm team as he leads us toward an exciting future.
